“O, CANADA” TRANSLATED INTO SPANISH
Prof. Jesús Ángel Miguel García, the founder and director of The Spanish Institute, Winnipeg, has translated the Canadian national anthem into Spanish. Prof. Miguel García said: “This is a historical first. Now the quarter of a million Spanish-speakers living in Canada and other Canadians will be able to sing the beautiful Canadian anthem in Spanish.” (Prof. Miguel García just lectured at Aqua Books a few weeks ago. )
Spanish version:
¡Oh, Canadá!
Nuestra patria y hogar
Gloria y honor. Lucharemos por ti.Un rayo de sol veremos salir,
con justicia,
paz y fe.Con valor y prez,
lealtad y amor
bien bordaste tu blasónDeber y paz,
virtud y fe,
fama y honor,
serás sin par nación.¡Oh, Canadá! Lucharemos por ti.
Letra en español (Spanish lyrics): Prof. Jesús Ángel MIGUEL GARCÍA, Spanish Institute, Winnipeg.
Translation:
Oh, Canada!
Our country and home.
Glory and honour.
We will fight for you.We will see come out a ray of sun,
With justice, peace and faith. With valour and glory,
loyalty and love,
you embroidered your flag.Duty and peace,
virtue and faith,
fame and honour,
there will be no nation like you.Oh, Canada! We will fight for you.
